Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has issued an appeal to teachers, urging them not to disrupt classes while advocating for their rights. The local government of the federal capital is encouraging teachers in schools within its jurisdiction to keep schools open, ensuring students' right to education.

This call comes in the wake of a protest organized by the Nepal Teachers' Federation, which has brought together teachers from various schools across the country to protest against the recently presented Federal Education Bill in parliament.

Nabin Manandhar, spokesperson for the Metropolis, stressed the importance of teachers resuming classes by the following day, emphasizing that students' right to education should not be compromised by school closures.

The local government has reportedly instructed its Education Department to monitor the situation and take action if any schools within the Metropolis are found violating the call to resume classes. Prior to this appeal, the Metropolis had issued warnings to teachers, reminding them that schools are designated as zones of peace.
